The essence of Eloa Jane’s body of work comes from the creative use of discarded paper. Her technique is comprised of carefully sifting through magazine pages and sorting them into a color palette. She then rolls, coils, and weaves the pages to form detailed textures and impressions.

Abroad, an Immigration Journey series is a collection of nine large paper tapestries and sixteen wall reliefs and sculptures depicting eighteen years of Eloa Jane's life as an immigrant in the US.

This project was born in 2020 during the COVID-19 isolation months. It was a time of insecurity that led the artist to question her decision to move to America.

Since then, “Abroad” has been reviewed many times, abandoned, left with half-made tapestries, revived through a trip to Brazil in 2021, and fully embraced in 2024.
